I was hanging in a pit
It was dark and humid
and the stench was unpleasant to the nose
I tried to scream, as loud as I could
but the voice got stuck in my chest

I tried to reckon my way up, but I can't see the ray

I can’t see any hue on my vision, it was pitch black
I sought for the light, as I lost my direction
I felt like crying, but I knew it would just tire me up
I stayed idle for a while, but I felt guilty
for not trying anything, when I was still breathing
I tried to grip on something in the darkness

rather than that tiny root I was holding on
I tried to hook my legs on any edges that I could,
looking for better ounce of support
I tried to fight my weight, but it was overbearing
The gravity kept pulling me down
I was losing to the force

I screamed in terror
I was gasping for air
I could not make sense of what was happening
My strength decreased, and I finally began to let go
I fell down, sucked in the pit, deeper and deeper
and I surrendered
But, as I hit the bottom, it was soft and velvety

Then, I finally began to realize
It was just a dream, a bad one
I instantly felt relieved
I opened my eyes and said my prayers
I am grateful for I am still breathing
I am thankful for the reminder
