 INTRODUCING: Peter van der Hagen

 Edward Jones Investments

Peter van der Hagen considers himself prett y lucky to have ended up in Sauk
Prairie. A 12-year fi nancial advisor with Edward Jones, he got here on
 happenstance.

Born in Minnesota and growing up in Ashland, WI Peter was always fascinated by
the world of fi nance and entrepreneurship. Between his parents encouraging him
to start a lawn mowing business in grade school, economics class and investi ng his
own money in high school and beyond, he followed his passion into the working
world. Aft er graduati ng from Michigan Technological University in Houghton MI
with a bachelors in Social Sciences and a double minor, he called his advisor and
asked about what the job entailed. Aft er a couple conversati ons, he was hooked
and applied to Edward Jones. Once hired in early 2007, the fi rm asked him where
he’d like to build his practi ce and he chose the Madison area. An opportunity
arose in a town just north called Sauk City and not knowing anything about the
community, he headed there. As he started, the markets were in turmoil, going through a recession, but Peter turned a
challenge into opportunity. With his client’s needs in focus, he tried to help as many people as he could reach and turned
a practi ce of a handful of clients to over hundreds spanning multi ple states. He has held numerous leadership positi ons
within his region and has been asked to help train new advisors in Edward Jones’ headquarters multi ple ti mes.

Knowing no one in the community, he immersed himself. He spoke at civics groups and joined the Sauk Prairie Kiwanis,
volunteering at brat stands and at the bike rodeo. Later, he joined the Sauk Prairie Chamber of Commerce as a committ ee
member, then a board member and fi nally SPACC’s youngest President. He created the Welcome Basket program helping Throw a pebble into the pond of inspiration...

Connecti ons). He was on the formati on committ ee for the Birdies and Brews event and fi nally biked over 250 miles to Graphic Design today.
