Carefully she put my toe in the cup and then
wrapped the towel around my foot. She told me
not to move and called my parents. When they
arrived, we drove at what felt like 100 miles per
hour to the hospital. My mom pulled up to the
emergency room and slammed on the brakes.
My dad carried me into the waiting room.

took my mom and me into a dark cold room.
She turned on the bright lights and laid me on the
hard bed.

door opened.

your parents and then we’ll fix you right up.

up my foot. I looked at my parents and started to
cry.
