Dry steam power plants draw and use the steam directly from underground geothermal
reservoir. The steam is piped straight from the underground well to the power plant, where it
drives the generator turbine to produce electricity.

Binary cycle power plants use the heat from the hot water to boil a working fluid which is
vaporized in a heat exchanger and used to turn a turbine. The water is re-injected back into the
ground to be reheated.
