Christmas
I
t was Christmas time again, which meant that
my family was making the long awaited journey
from North America and around the Caribbean to
be with their siblings and families at the old
family home.
We had been planning this get together since my
grandfather (their father) passed, but it finally
happened when grandma (their mother) died.
We only had one aunt and one uncle from that
generation. My aunts and uncles were living all
around the world, some with their own families,
other with their parents in the cold, trying to
make a future for themselves while their children
are at home being taken care of by another
sibling. This time, Christmas time, was the only
time we were all a big happy family again.
As the rented cars rolled up to the gate of the old
family home there were the children and their
other siblings as well as the neighbours who
came out to greet them.
