1998 Maintex broke ground on the current Poway branch location in Northern San Diego County.
2010 Founder Ralph Silverman passed away, leaving behind a 50 year legacy of business integrity and success. Stu and Linda continued operating the business as CEO and President.

2017 Third generation Danny Silverman has joined the company to continue the growth and success of the family business.
2014 The Maintex geographic footprint expanded nationwide through becoming
a member-owner of SMA, a premier distribution and logistics provider of facility supplies throughout North America.
1960 Ralph and Marilyn Silverman moved their young family from New York to California to start a new business.
Leveraging Ralph’s background as a chemist, they founded Maintex as a manufacturer of  oor wax and other chemicals. The name is a contraction of the words “maintenance” and “technology.”
Stu and Linda Silverman had worked at Maintex over summers in their teens. A er college, they joined the business full time; Stu in operations and Linda in sales.
1970 Maintex undertook the  rst
of several moves in search of more space for manufacturing, a chemical laboratory, warehousing, and of ces.
1979 Maintex expanded to a second location with a branch warehouse in San Diego. Over the years the branch grew and moved multiple times.
1988 The Maintex headquarters moved to its current location at 13300 E Nelson Ave in the City of Industry. Finally manufacturing and distribution could  t comfortably under one roof.
1981 Maintex began distributing “away-from-home” paper products and cleaning equipment.
1982 Maintex transitioned from paper labels to a modern silkscreen process. Thirty years later, the on-demand printing revolution made silkscreening obsolete and Maintex moved to full color plastic-coated labels.
1997 Maintex acquired the Minuteman International distribution division, located in Glendale.
1999 Maintex began a successful partnership with Tennant, the world’s leading cleaning equipment manufacturer. This enabled Maintex to offer the most innovative, highest quality cleaning equipment in the industry.
2004 As the business grew, Maintex expanded to a second City of Industry warehouse location.
2005 Maintex led the industry push to sustainable cleaning with a full array of EPA Safer Choice and Green Seal certi ed products.
