Three year old Simon the cat was brought to the Hamilton Township Animal Shelter in
the Fall of 2019.
His malnourished body was covered in flea bites and flea bite dermatitis. Both of his ears
were full of debris and pesky ear mites. He had clearly been living somewhat of a rough
existence fending for himself.
After he was treated by the Hamilton Twp. Animal Shelter’s veterinary team, and
brought back to a healthy state he was considered adoptable. A few months passed with-
out anyone expressing interest in sweet Simon and then our feline friend had to have an
infected tooth removed and he just wasn't catching a break.
Shortly after his quick recovery from the extraction, the shelter staff connected with The
Crossings Animal Society and it was decided Simon was going to get the lucky break he
deserved.
The CAS staff and volunteers arranged for Simon to be fostered, so he could continue to
recover from his previous life of neglect, and acclimate to a life of security.
After about a month with his foster family, Simon’s day finally came.
Cathy, a cat owner and lover, saw Simon and his story and ap-
plied to become his forever home. It took a bit of time for Si-
mon to settle in, make friends with his new cat siblings, and
acclimate to the new environment but Cathy tells us that
since getting comfortable with the family he has brought so
much joy to their household.
We hope for many more years of joy and love for Simon and
his family!
