Irakra

Written and illustrated by Adwik Bairagi, Class 5

There was a man in the world that has no feelings; no
friends; no family and no pet. His pale face was without a

single strand of hair on his head. He had a thin jaw but
was jagged with rusty copper teeth and also had pointed

ears. He stayed in a lonely eerie tower called the Citadel

atop a mountain. He was named Irakra by the people.

The Citadel was gifted to him. He was proud to be its

owner. So proud that giving the Citadel to someone
meant tearing his heart out of him.

The Citadel was made of beautiful stones with pure

diamonds embedded in it, making it shine and sparkle. It
was Irakra’s only possession. He would keep it forever.

Another reason for keeping the Citadel was because there was something special

about it. It had the ability to fly over land and disappear into thin air. It would also
speak to Irakra with its mind. The Citadel was alive.

Although Irakra was strong and fierce, he had one archenemy. The Goldem was the

monster of the Night. He was ugly and hairy with a very stubby nose. He was short
and had bulgy eyes. He was also very silly and cared only of his wealth. The Goldem

stayed at a fortress in the forest with a wild wolf who was always hungry for flesh.

Not even a lion would come near it. The Wolf had three heads with no tails. It also had
          giant canines.

Full of riches and wealth the Goldem grew greedy. He wanted the Citadel. So he
launched many waves of attacks on Irakra and his Citadel. To save himself and his

home, Irakra kept moving from place to place with his flying Citadel, so nobody could

catch him. With all of this wandering Irakra remained grim and lonely.

If you are lucky enough you can see the lonely Irakra with his shiny Citadel travelling

across the starry night sky once every 75 years.

Modern Astronomy call them The Halley’s Comet.
