Balanced Life In Smartphone Era
- KUSHAGRA GOVIL, VIII /IX
Smartphones are a radical innovation for the human race that has changed the
lives of people across the globe drastically. It brought great speed along with
convenience in the life of human beings.
Earlier phones were only limited to make calls but now with smartphones, the
entire world is in one’s hand as one can do anything he wants. Starting from
basic things, like calls and messages, smartphones now also help in navigation,
photography, video, mails, internet, banking, shopping, social and professional
networking, office work.
Due to so many utilities, we are now slowly getting highly dependent on
smartphones but as people say, ‘Excess of anything is bad’, so its high uses are
now bringing negative changes in our life. Therefore, we now need to define our
own rules for the use of smartphones as per our requirements so that their uses
do not affect us in a negative way.
To make our lives perfectly
balanced, ideally, we should
distribute our day, that is, 24 hours
into 3 parts -
1. 8 hours of work/school/studies
2. 7-8 hours of sleep
3. 8-9 hours of personal life –
a. 3 hours for Health, Hygiene,
Hobby (1 hour each)
b. 3 hours for Family, Friend & Faith
(1 hour each)
c. 3 hours for Service, Soul & Smile
(1 hour each)
However, because of the excessive
use of our smartphones, we usually
disturb this equilibrium and disturb
our sleep and personal life. It is the
need of the hour that we
immediately decide and implement
our own rules for smartphone use.
