All of us want to be happy and gratitude is the powerful catalyst for
happiness. It’s the spark that lights a fire of joy in your soul.”
As I sit to pen down my
thoughts for the magazine this year, the first emotion that comes to my mind is
Gratitude. My heart today is filled with thankfulness for all that I have. This
has been a particularly bad year. Death, disease and insecurity is all around and
all of us are struggling with some problem or another. The world has completely
turned topsy- turvy for most of us. The question foremost in people’s mind is
“why me”. Definitely a very normal reaction when your world has stopped due to
the loss of someone close, loss of jobs and economic disaster, falling sick or
just staying home knowing that stepping out can lead to exposure for self and
family. But now more than ever we need to look inward and see things in a
different perspective. As someone said, “If you concentrate on things that you
have you will always have more but if you concentrate on things that you don’t
have you will never have enough.” Hence it is the time now to develop the ATTITUDE
OF GRATITUDE. The first step is to do a bit of introspection and ask yourself
that in-spite of all the difficulties what are the things that you do have.
Then, look at yourself inward and be thankful for all that you have that makes
you functional on a day-to-day basis. Life is not always fair and many of us
have had to change our lifestyle and move away from our comfort space. But this
is the time to realize that these problems should make us better versions of
ourselves.
