              08. In the early part of tho monsoon last year, when Arab craft begin to arrive from
          Hast Africa, nono of Her Majesty's vessels could bo spared for cruising in Oman waters, but
          io September three vossels woro stationed off tho coast, and on the 19th of that month
          Captain Dowding, in Her Majesty’s Osprey, captured a dhow with 73 slaves on board,
          which was condemned with tho slaves in the Vico-Admiralty Court at Muscat. The slave
          dealers in cliargc of tho cargo wero imprisoned by Ills Highness Sayyid Torki.
             69.  Ten days later Ilor Majesty’s Ranger captured a fishing-boat off Soor, with some
          slaves disembarked from a slaver a few days before. The fishing-boat and two slaves were
          condemned.
              70.  On tho lGlh September Her Majesty's Consul-General at Zanzibar telegraphed to the
          Resident that a dhow with a cargo of slaves had Eailed from the Zanzibar Coast on the
          J 1th instant. This dhow was not captured.

             71.  Colonel Ross, Political Resident, having been appointed to act as Resident at Hyder­
          abad, left Bush ire on the 29th March in mail steamer for Muscat tn route to take up his
          appointment.
              72.  Her Majesty's Osprey joined the station 2Gth May 1835, Her Majesty’s Rein-
          deer joined 30th August, Her Majesty’s Ranger left 18th October, Her Majesty’s Philomel
          joined 24th September and left 24th January 1886, Her Majesty’s Osprey left 28th March
          1386.

             74. The summer of 1835 was comparatively moderate. The usual sheraal north-west
          wind blew from the Clh of June till the 14th of July.
             75. The autumn aud winter rains were fairly abundant and seasonable, and there are pro­
          spects of a favorable harvest.
             76.  A severe gah; blew during the winter, but few disasters occurred among the native
          craft.
