TABLES OF PERSIAN MONEY, MEASURES, &c.
Persian Money Table.
Dinar, nominal = under 20th of a farthing.
5 Dinars = 1 ghaz (nominal).
10 Ghaz = 1 shahi or one-half penny (nominal).
20 Shahis or 1,000 dinars = kran or kerau = 10 pence (silver
coin).
10 Krans = 1 toman, gold coin.
There is also the Pul-i-Siyah or black money, which is copper coin
of value of one-half of a shahi.
Linear Measures.
1 Farsakh or farsang may be taken on average to equal 3| geo
graphical or 4 English Statute miles.
Bahr = about 1 i inches.
2 Balirs = 1 girih = about 2 J inches.
10 Girihs = 1 zera or gaz = 40 inches.
1 Kadarn or pace = about 20 inches.
12,000 Kadam or G,000 gaz = 1 farsakh.
Land Mlasures.
1 Nei or rod =17 feet.
4 Ncis long -f- 1 Nei broad = 1 kafiz.
10 Kafiz = jerceb or nearly one-third of an acre.
Weights.
The uuit of weight is the miscal, which is about 0J* of an ounce
avoirdupois.
The “ mau” (raaund) has varieties, as the Tabriz man, the
I lash mi man.
The “ sang” (stone) is also of different kinds.
As “ Sang'M-Shab, Sang-i-Rei (Teheran).
These again have varying values in different localities, as:—

For general commodities.
1 Tabriz man = 7G0 miscals or about ... ... 7| lbs.
For grain, &c.
