Medical Work in Oman.
Our medical work in Oman has thus far been confined largely

to Muscat and Muttrah. Little has been done to reach the interior.
1 fowever, the work in these two cities is quite sufficient for the staff
at present available. The interior also is reached to a certain degree.

for visitors come from all parts of Oman to the capital city, especially
in the winter.
Medical work anywhere is largely determined by the locality, the
people who live there, and the diseases they have brought with them.
I fere in Muttrah all three of these factors are of considerable interest.
To begin with, the locality is well within the zone of dangerous heat.
Lor two months in the winter the weather is delightful—what might
be called spring-like,—and those whose tastes run in that direction
find a few days when dark clothes are really very comfortable. The
rest of the year is hot, and for three or four months in the early
