The Maria Theresa dollar fluctuated considerably during the twelve
months. It varied from Its. 125 to Rs. 137 per 100 dollars, being at the latter
. rate on 31st December with a tendency to rise.
Thirty-seven British steam vessels visited Bahrein on the voyage up the
Gulf, and British and 1 Russian called on the down voyage. One British
vessel only carried pilgrims direct to Jeddah.
