                     Aqai Ahmed Nosanenaadeh, Head clerk of the (iovemorate
           acted as president of the Bandar Abbas Hunicipality throughout
           the year.
           -TALTH.
                     Severe.epidemics of smallpox and typhus broke out
           early in the year and caused a number of deaths among the
           copulation of the suburbs. After the epidemics had subsided
           the general health situation of the area was quite normal
           except towards the end of the year when, due to the exception­
           ally heavy rainfall and unusual cold, cases of throat and
           chest diseases became comoner.
           INZUSTHY.
                     The Khunji Cotton Spinning Hill continued to work
           until late in September when, due to the lack of raw cotton,
           it closed down. At the time, the rrill had several hundred
           cales of cotton 4n the Customs warehouses which were not
           released as the Director of Customs "had no instructions from
           Tehran

           7ISH CAyyiMC factory.
                     The factory operated as usual for 6 months. Out put
          during the orking season is reported to have b en excellent
           except for about a month towards the er.d of the'season owing
          to a shortage of olive oil which arrived shortly after the
          factory was closed. Fish was plentiful throughout the season.
          TTOfCriC.

                     Prices retained high, and es. er.tial foodstuffs could
          only be ..rocured by the moderately well to do. The poor lived
          on fish and dates.
                                   V.MILITARY
                     Sargord Kavusi commanded/the Garrison in Bandar Abbas
          until the lith February when he was relieved by Sarv/an Ghaffari
          who continued to hold the post. The garrison now has detatch-
          nents at Jask and Minab.
          ?T TDADTERIE.
                     Sarv/an Barchan remained in ‘command for the greater
          portion of tine year and just before he left,on November 4th,
          he suceedpd in persuading the outlaws Mir Kashin and Abbas
          Hussain Ali to hand over their anus and granted them an amnesty.
          Tarwan Allai who took over on November 4th was in command till
          the end of the year.

          INTERNAL 3EQrrRITY.
                     The state of security of tne Bandar Abbas dist^lu-
          was exceptionally good throughout the year and no serious
           robberies were reported.
