The hospital was open throughout the year and was wall
attended by the public. The following patients woro treated *-

The ohief diseases vers malaria, tuberculosis.
intestinal infections and eye infections.
(c). Oustanting.
At the end of the year smallpox became somewhat serious
at Birkah, on the Batinah, and at Nakhl, in Oman, Thero were
several cases in Uatroh and semo doath3. A land quarantine
station has been opened at Euwi, to the eact of l-Iatrah, where
local cases and contacts are segregated, instead of at Haramil,
the sea quarantine station. A vaccinator has been daily on duty
at Ghuroifa, to vaccinate persons arriving from infected, zones by
landj and persons arriving by sea from Birkah have been
vaccinated by the Agency Hospital on their arrival.
3. POLITICAL SITUATION.
(a). Tribal.
(i). A squabble has been in progress at Diboh during the
whole of the year between the two clans which inhabit the two
parts of the town, the Jawasim (which have now come under the
control of Kalba) and the Shlhuh (who are subjeot to Muscat)* Th3
business has been characterised by all the usual formalities
attendant on such incidents, truces and breaches of truoea,
negotiations and protraction of negotiations, and a note-worthy
absence of casualties. At the close of the year, a settlement
