                                           Clingly repeated his .tour of the Qanats which
                                          70 members attended.

               November 5th                    Father Bart Kestcll gave a slide show and
                                          talk to 40 members on “ Ancient Greece and
                                          Crete

               November 18, 19. 20 and 21st    The Secretary gave a conducted tour of
                                          Muharraq to 100 members and guests to see the
                                          architecture of yesteryear.

               November 27th                  50 members and guests listened to a revival
                                          of old Bahraini dhow and wedding songs and
                                          dances. This was arranged by Mr. Ahmed
                                          Fardan who also played on the Qanoon, a kind
                                          of harp. Mr. Ahmed Suleiman wrote the dia­
                                          logue and explained the meaning of the move­
                                          ments of the dances and songs.

               December 4th                    Mr. Bill Phillips gave a slide show and
                                          talk to 40 members on “ Development of the
                                          Culture and Architecture of Petra


               December 28th                  Mr. Jassim Ahmed Khalf kindly showed
                                          40 members his beautiful old house in Manama.

              January 3rd                     A requested repeat visit by members to               Eh

                                          see  the old style architecture of Muharraq.

              January 5th                     This was cancelled through illness.


              January 8th                     130 persons watched two films “ The
                                         Empty Quarter ” and “ Arabia the Fortunate                Sm
                                                                                                   Eh
              January 29th                    Dr. Elizabeth During Caspers on a return
                                         visit to Bahrain gave an illustrated talk “Meso­
                                         potamia and Indus Valley Art - A comparative
                                         Analysis ”, to 60 members.


              February 5th                    Annual General Meeting 48 persons
                                         attended. This was followed by the film “The
                                         Empty Quarter
