                      that Sheykh Saleh has announced his intention of again leading   an ex-
                      pedition against Muskat this summer.
                         10. At the present time the distribution of power in the various
                      towns and districts of 'OmAn is as follows:—
                               The greater part of 'Oman from Dhofar to Khosab with
                                   Muskat as capital. Seyyid Toorkee bin Said nix
                                   Svi.TAN.
                               Sohar. Sf.yyid Mohammed bin Toonkkb.
                               Burka. Sbyyid Feysal bin Toorkee.
                               Semed. Seyyid Abdool Azkez din Said, independent.
                               Rostak and El Ilazam. Seyyid Ibrahim bin Kais, indepen.

                         The following towns and forts are governed by Walees appointed bj
                     Seyyid Toorkee:—
                          Scor.                Gwadur.              Seeb.
                          Seraail.             Khasab.              Mesnaah.
                          Nezwa.               Zikki.               Mutt rah.
                         Nakhl.               Sowcyk.               Dbofar.
                          Kuriyat.             Shinas.
                                                   The remaining towns and forts are in
                                                the hands of the tribes occupying tbe
                              Slave Trade.
                                                respective districts.
                        No importations of African slaves by sea are known to have taken
                     place during the year 1878-79 into 'Oman. In August two Indians, a
                     woman and a boy, who had been brought from Ilydrubad in the Deccan,
                     were released from slavery at Rostak by the Sultan. The woman died
                     on the way to Muskat, but the boy was recovered and sent to Bombay.,
                        In Dee-ember three more Indian children, two boys and a girl, were
                     released from slavery and sent to Bombay. They had been brought
                     from llydrabad in the Deccan by a party of Hadramies who had offered
                     them for sale at Soor.
                        On the 9tb March 1879 the ship Marian 3foore, bound from Calcutta
                                                with rice, was wrecked about 5 miles S. E.
                               Marine.
                                                of Muskat. The crew were all saved and
                     subsequently arrived at Muskat. Part of tbe cargo  was  received in
                     damaged condition. The circumstances were enquired into by a Naval
                     Court at Muskat
