                          Correspondence about facilities for the Royal Air Force--1950

                     Letter, dated September 6 1950, from the Political Agent, Kuwait, to the
                                              Ruler of Kuwait
                      With reference to the Agreement dated 5th September 1950, and signed by
                  Your Highness on the subject of Air Navigation in Kuwait, I have the honour
                  to inform you that His Majesty’s Government in the United Kingdom of Great
                  Britain and Northern Ireland expect that Military aircraft belonging to or employed
                  in the service of His Majesty’s Government shall at all times as hitherto enjoy
                  priority (when His Majesty’s Government considers that circumstances require it)
                  in the use of any aerodrome which may be established or maintained in Kuwait
                  for civil aircraft, and of full facilities, without specific prior permission, and that
                  use of aerodrome shall be accorded free of charge.

                      We have received your letter No. 194 (169/39/50) of 6th September 1950 and
                  understood its contents.
                      We agree that military aircraft belonging to or employed in the service of
                  His Majesty’s Government shall at all times, as hitherto, enjoy priority (when His
                  Majesty’s Government consider that circumstances require it) in the use of any
                  aerodrome which may be established or maintained in Kuwait for civil aircraft,
                  and of full facilities, without specific prior permission, and that use of such
                  aerodrome shall be accorded free of charge.

                                               (Paragraph 190)
                              Notification prohibiting slave traffic in Kuwait, dated
                                              December 31 1949
                      By order of His Highness, this Department notifies the public that from
                  to-day’s date it is strictly and decisively prohibited to bring in slaves from outside
                  and to trade in them, personally or by any means, whatsoever they may be.
                  Whoever disobeys this order will be liable for punishment and blame.

                                Notifications regarding the arms traffic in Kuwait
                                                    (i)
                                               (Paragraph 192)
                         Notification by the Ruler of Kuwait prohibiting the traffic in arms,
                                             dated May 24 1900
                      Be it known to all who see this that whereas it has become known to us that
                  the traffic in arms in British India and Persia, is prohibited, we have therefore
                  decided to do all that lies in our power to assist the British and Persian
                  Governments in putting a stop to this illegal traffic and we hereby declare that from
                  the date of this notification the importation of arms and ammunition into Kuwait
                  and the territory under my control, and the exportation of the same are absolutely
                  prohibited. All arms and ammunition imported into any part of Kuwait territory
                  or exported therefrom will in future be seized and confiscated.
