PART II—CHAPTER VIII.
                                                        32
Rs. 7,10,677, whereas our exports to that Gulf amounted to Rs. 31,29,110, the
imports at Bushire alone, amounted to Rs. 14,46,938, of which Rs. 7*82,175 were
from Bengal from which a large quantity of Indigo was exported, while the
imports from this place amounted to Rs. 5,42,112. Our imports from that Gulf,
however, were to the extent of Rs. 33»47»797i th e same year.
From a minute examination of the two statements which are now returned,
although various discrepancies are discoverable, arising doubtless from the in
correct records of the Bushire Custom House, I think that the balance
generally is in favour of our records, many of these differences having likewise
arisen from the confusion attendant on the Quarantine Regulations during the
                         prevalence of the plague.
