PREFACE.
This Precis continues the narrative of events connected with the affairs
of the Persian Coast and Islands as described in the Precis of the Persian Gulf
Affairs, 1801-1853. The correspondence during the last seven years on the
following subjects is dealt with in the Precis on International Rivalry and
British Policy
(1) Opening of telegraphic communication with Henjam and Bandar Abbas and the
difficulties created by the Persian Customs Administration.
(2) British Policy in the Persian Gulf,
(3) Lord Curzon's tour in the Gulf.
(4) Our position at Bassidorc.
