Island and " Sir-bu-Nnfair.” The price of salt at Lingah varies
from 4 to 5 dollars, whilo at Muskat from 5 to 6 dollars per *5 Sahar/*
In connection with this subject it may not be out of place to state
that there arc certain springs in the rocks close to the village of
“Salakh" opposite to Ilenjam, the waters of which are warm and charged
with salt, yielding naphtha of a reddish colour. It is highly
combustible, burning with thick smoke. Tho natives use it for purposes
of light, and use it locally for rheumatic complaints. The existence of
crystals of pure sulphur in the salt noted above, and the existence in
certain places of salt springs charged with sulphureous gases, leads one,
from analogy, to suspect the existence of sulphur on the Island of
Kishm, like what is found associated with earthy gypsum on the
Persian mainland.
