Quarantine. Officer throughout the year; the quaran-

Charitable Disponsary in tho town was well-attended, the number of patients
during the past three years being as follows :—

There was little or no direct import of arms into Bandar Abbas during
the year under review: rifles continued
to be brought in from Laristan and found
a ready sale in tbo bazaar, when. Mauser rifles fetched bet ween 11200 and
R300. Towards the end of the year the ejects of the closing of Maskat to
imports of arms was beginning to be felt, and it is believed that the stocks of
rifles formerly held by certain merchants in the town were almost depleted,
and few rifles were being brought into the town. Arms were obtainable but
not many of them were newly imported.

Mr Johns, C.I.E., accompanied by Messrs. Tipper and "Watkins arrived
at Baudar Abbas from Kerman on the
11th April and left for India on the
13th.
General Birdwood, C.I3, C.T.E., C S.I., D.S.O., Secretary to the Government
of India in the Army Department, and Colonel Lee, Secretary to His Excellency
tho Viceroy, arrived in the R. I, M. 3. “ Lawrence ” on the 13th October on
left on the loth.
Rear-Admiral Sir E. Slade, K.O.I.E., accompanied by Professor CJadn»»n
and 3 other European** arrived in H. M. 8. “ Sphinx ” on the 3rd Dcce
and left on the 5th, ,
His Excellency Rear-Admiral Peirso, Naval, Comraandcr-in-Chio£ Jjj*
Mrs. and Miss Peirse arrived in H. M. 8.44 Swiitsuie” on the 12th Decc
and stopped two nights at the Consulate, leaving on the 14th for Jaah.
