transferred to Karachi. He was succeeded by Mr. A. Robertson.
Relations between Mir Barkat Khan and Shaikh Saleh, Deputy Governor
of Jask, have not been cordial. The cause

is that Mir Barkat Khan, at the sugges
tion of Saiyid Muhammad Saleh, a Persian trader at Jask, made Saiyid
Murtaza refund 176 tomans taken from Saiyid Yusaf (Saleh Muhammad’s
son) by the Deputy Governor on account cf shortage of dried fish
delivered by Saiyid Yusaf a year ago. Since the departure of Shaikh.
Saleh to Bushire, in May, the Collector of Customs has been considered Deputy-
Governor by the local chiefs. He keeps the keys of the Persian fort in his
possession.

They were buried at Jask. The burial service was conducted by Major Lane.
