From the beginning of the year until the end of August business was
not very brisk owing to the rebellion at Shiraz, and to the road being closed.
After that date large quantities of goods were imported until almost the end
of the year, when renewed disturbances at Kazcrun again closed the road.
The Finance Department remained in charge of Shahzadek Sulaiman
Mirza throughout the year. Owing to the disturbed condition of the hinter
land and the impotence of the Persiau Government, the Finance Department
has been seriously embarrassed during the year.
At the beginning of the year Brigadier-General S. M. Edwardes, D.S.O.,
was in command of the British troops at
Eriliih -Military Force at Boil ire.
Bushire. He was relieved, at the end of
February, by Brigadier-General Douglas, C.M.G., who remained in command
until the end of the year.
At the end of 1915 the garrison consisted of one Squadron 16th Cavalry,
a detachment Indian Mountain Artillery with Turkish guns, the 11th Rajputs
and the 96th Berar Infantry.
In March, the 124th Baluchistan Infantry arrived, and the Squadron of
16th Cavalry was replaced by 2 Squadrons of tho 15th Lancers.
In the same month a section of the 23rd Indian Mountain Battery
arrived. Shortly afterwards this section of Mountain Artillery and 1 Squadron
of Cavalry and the Head-quarters wing of the 124th Baluchistan Infantry
left for Bandar Abbas to proceed with Brigadier-General Sykes to Kerman,
In May the 96th Infantry left for Basrah, being replaced by the 14th
Sikhs from Egypt, and, in July, the 11th Rajputs left for India, being replaced
by tho 2nd Battalion 22nd Punjabis. During tho summer the wing of tho
121th at Bushire was converted into tho 2nd Battalion 11:4th, and on 26th
October the new Battalion proceeded to Mesopotamia.
One Squadron of 15th Lancers, the detachment of Mountain Artillery, the
14th Sikhs and the 2-22nd Punjab Infantry remained as garrison till the end
of the year.
