                        In spite of the scarcity of good drinking   water in the latter half of the  year
                        the  public health has been good.
                            On account of the serious illness of Assistant Surgeon W. H. JL Brumby,
                                                        the Quarantine duties were temporarily

                                                        taken up by Surgeon H. H. Babington,
                       R. N., H. M. S. "Pox,” whose services were kindly lent by His Excellency
                       the Naval Commander-in-Ohiof, from the 22nd February to the 6th March,
                       when he was relieved by the Mobile Assistant, Captain G. G. James, I.M.S.,
                       who retained charge until the arrival from Bushiro of Assistant Surgeon
                       J. Johnstone, I.S.M.D.
                            Captain C. B. McConaghy, M.D., I.M.S., Chief Quarantine Officer in the
                       Persian Gulf, visited Lingah in May and iu December to inspect the Quaran­
                       tine arrangements and Charitable Dispensary.
