                       The Deputy Political Resident, Bushire, arrived in Kuwait by H. M a

                                                 on the 11th idem.
                       The Deputy Civil Commissioner, Basrah, Lieutenant-Colonel E. B. HowelL
                   arrived from Basrah on 31st May and left on the 2nd June.       ’
                       His Excellency Shaikh Sir Khsz’al Khan, G.C.I.E., K.C.8.I., arrived ^
                   Kuwait on ;Gth June and left on August 21st. He returned again with 8haikh
                   Ghadhban of Beni Lam, on 3rd November and both loft on 28th idem.
                       The Commodore Persian Gulf and Mesopotamia, Captain D. Norris, arrived
                   in Kuwait in H. M. S. “Juno ” on June 12th and left on 15th idem.
                       The Hon’ble Major-General Sir Percy Cox, GC.I.E., K.C.8.I., arrived
                   from Bushire in H. M. S. “ Lawrence ” on August 19th and left for Moham-
                   merah by the same ship on August 21st.
                       Brigadier-General Hughes, Director, Inland Water Transport, Colonel
                  Rntsey, Deputy Director, Inland VVater Transport, and Lieutenant-Colonel
                  Macrae, C -N.-C., visited Kuwait on November 26th and returned to Basrah
                  next day.
                      E. E. Gunter, Esquire, Director of Persian Gulf Telegraphs, visited Kuwait
                  on November 27th and left for Bushire on 28th idem.
                      Shaikh Ahmed bin Jabir (nephew of Shaikh Salim) with a large number
                                                 of detainers and other pilgrims numbering

                                                 about 1,500 left Kuwait on August 8th
                  for Mecca and arrived back on October S9th. The journey each way, exclusive
                  of halts, look 32 days. They wore veiv pleased with the reception given them
                  by the Sherif, but state that while trareWiiye through his territory, they  were
                  harassed the whole time whereas in Bin Band's country there was absointe
                  order and safety.
                      Arrangements have at length bees made for the working of the Kuwait

                      The charge of the Political Asency continued to be held by Lieutenant-

                  ceeded on privilege leave on 19th September handing ever charge of the current

                      Honorary Lieutenant C. C. Kelly, LS.if.D., continued to be in medical
                  charge of the Agency and quarantine arrangements to the 1st September 19iS.
                  He was transfe:red to India and his duties here were taken over temporarily
                  by Dr. C. S. G. Mylrea of the American Mission.
