Even though these data are provocative, future researchers should avoid
hasty interpretations of seemingly patterned data. Several more alternatives must
be tried before hard and fast archeological explanation is possible. Explanation of
natural effects to land use must be researched more fully and compared with the
archeological data base. Such research will provide a more integrated view of
human cultures in the gulf region and will help to place in perspective future
studies devoted to interpretation of archeological data.
