Husband and wife team Andrew and Louise Coulbeck, are both from fish expert families and were born and bred in Grimsby, the home of great British seafood.
Andy has spent his entire working life in fish, starting at the age of 16 in his father’s firm. Early in his career he learnt all about salmon working with renowned local expert, Jack Carlisle Smith. When he and Louise came to set up their new business in 2000, they named it JCS Fish in honour of Andy’s old mentor.
Today, JCS Fish is still in Grimsby and still focused on salmon. We have a proud reputation for best practice and our independence allows us to focus on the things that matter to our customers: taste, quality and sustainability.
We supply chefs and catering companies with prepared salmon in many different formats. And our multi award- winning BigFishTM brand products are distributed nationwide through a network of independent retailers and sold online through our own website and Ocado.

smoked or simply prepared to use in your own recipes, we promise you won’t be disappointed with our products.
Responsible and sustainable
Because we buy all our fish direct from producers we trust, we can insist on the best. Our focus is on a combination of quality with responsible production and traceability from farm to factory door. We require our suppliers to demonstrate careful environmental management and animal welfare, as well as proper business practice and due care for people and local communities.
Our factory is certified to BRC AA-Grade and Organic Food Federation standards and we are a
chain of custody supplier within the GlobalG.A.P. (GGN) and Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) programmes for sustainable aquaculture practice. In 2019 BigFish was the first UK brand to commit entirely to using salmon which is either GGN-certified or Organic.
