Approach

We have all the right pieces in place.
Our firm possesses an intimate familiarity with school design, project management, and the approach
nuances of security, summer scheduling, and construction during student occupancy. We
embrace sustainable building practices and work with you to discover ways these facets
can become ongoing learning opportunities for the students. In-house interior design
complements our architectural services to offer compact, focused and seamless design
solutions. Our knowledge of local construction markets and local environmental challenges
will prove invaluable throughout design and construction. We are passionate about what we
            do.
                                                                                                 06
We have a passion for creating community.
Not all beautiful buildings are created equal. Our priority is always to design spaces that
produce the best possible student engagement because relationships are what take the
learning experience from good to exceptional. Spaces where community happens, from
outdoor classrooms and gardens to collaborative learning areas, receive a great deal of
attention from the KSQ Team. Gymnasiums and spaces for assembly are integral to successful
community-focused schools. Our design team is fully versed in the technical aspects of these
high-performing spaces, and those more subtle qualities that truly give us a home-court
advantage. Our portfolio contains several of these successful community-driven spaces
designed specifically for schools. In fact, we are so passionate about designing spaces that
create community, we built our mission statement around it.

We are thought leaders on both a local and national scale.
Our team of K-12 experts contribute regularly to the national conversation on educational
design trends, 21st-century learning, security issues, prevention strategies, and more.
From national and regional conferences to industry publications and journals, we share our
experiences and insights with educators, administrators and parents on an ongoing basis.

We are the collaborative, listening architect.
We know how critical collaboration is for our clients and the project team. With this in mind,
we keep our big ideas on the sidelines until we first listen to the client’s goals, vision and
dream for what the project can achieve. Our participatory design process develops consensus
among stakeholders and targets limited resources resulting in projects delivered on time
and under budget while pinpointing the programmatic needs to actualize your desired
curriculum. Our passion is driven as much by the educational experience of the students as
it is by the building itself, we are able to make the program the priority - the award-winning
            design work comes next.
