VITA
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) grant program is an IRS initiative designed to
support free tax preparation service for the underserved through various partner organizations.
This service helps low- to moderate-income individuals, persons with disabilities, the elderly,
and limited English speakers file their taxes each year. IRS awards matching funds to these
support organizations that offer free tax preparation services during the tax filing season at
locations in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
In 2016, RCBCC secured a 3 year contract with the Internal Revenue Services (IRS) to provide
free tax preparation services to our community. Since obtaining the contract we have serviced
over 100 taxpayers, which equated to an average of $2,500 in federal tax refunds, per filing,
putting over $250, 000 back into the community. We are now entering our 3rd year of the
contract for 2019 and were looking to increase our reach to return more funds into the Inland
Empire.
