About the Artist
Privately commissioned and collected for decades, the works of M. Bernard Edmonds, I
(BerniE.) connects emotional expression, hope and inspiration through his paintings, statues,
glass art, and monuments. BerniE.’s art is inspired by the influences of Picasso, Erte’, Tina Allen
and John H. Biggers and Charles Bibbs. BerniE.’s art has its own style and is recognized for its
strong, graphic visual array with the use of mixed media, infused bronze and glass. Patrons
have included Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson, Najee, Dawnn Lewis, Chip Fields, NBC Studios and the
King of Nigeria.
BerniE. art has adorned the sets of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”, “Living Single”, “In The House”
and “The Jamie Foxx Show”. Artistic credits also include design of:
Amazing Love Award, Corretta Scott King Award, Reginald F. Lewis Award, Business Person of

the Year Award and the Kwaanza Award, 30 Anniversary Commemoration.
His work can be seen at California State San Bernardino; commissioned life-sized bronze statues of
George & Pauline Murillo, at California State San Bernardino University, on the grounds of the Murillo
Observatory. Also at CSUSB’s Legacy Fountain, you can observe his bronze seated sculptures of Drs.
Evan, Fau and Karnig, the three former Presidents of the University. The Black Voice News & Foundation,
Inc., commissioned BerniE. to sculpt a bronze bust of Booker T. Washington, which is on permanent
display at the Historic Mission Inn Hotel & Spa, in Riverside, California. He has produced a television
documentary on African American Art in Riverside, featuring four prominent African American
artists in the Inland Empire. BerniE. is currently working on 4 commissioned life size sculptures
to be completed in January 2021.
Faith and family are the sources of inspiration for expressing himself creatively and as a strong,
lifelong engaged citizen of his church and community. BerniE. helps causes and organizations in
fund raisers with donated art used in auctions, and through providing marketing materials,
event designs, and platforms to showcase their events. The Institute for Black Parenting, an
adoption and foster care agency, Five Acres” (a children’s orphanage), churches and other non-
profit agencies are among those he has help bring in over $350,000.00.
Recently, BerniE. lost his Mother to Alzheimer’s|Dementia. He sought healing from her passing
by working on a series of paintings related to his experience of the interactions with his Mom’s,
Grandmother's and Grandfather's battle with Alzheimer's|Dementia. In completing this body
of work, BerniE. endeavors to start a dialogue that brings awareness to the disease, raise funds
for research and caregiver’s support through donating a portion of the proceeds from the sale
of his artworks and music. In addition to this body of artwork, entitled “The I Care” Collection,

BerniE. has written and produced a song, “I Care” to be released on September 13 , (his
mom’s birthdate) and will air a music video for the song on September 21, 2020, in honor of
World Alzheimer’s Day. The video will feature the “I Care” Collection art pieces.
BerniE., a native of South-Central Los Angeles, gained training and art experience through
private training, independent art classes at local colleges and studying abroad in Italy.
