To heal...

... is to start responding to the moment. Wake up! Grasp the moment.

Smile. Play. Decide to change the game! Naïve you may say. Pompous and
unscientific I may add. But then so is life. Think about it. We enter the world
with nothing; we leave with nothing. Nothing but the truth that we dared to

face. It’s entirely up to us how we face that truth.

Well, a life-threatening experience is the ultimate call to rise to the

next level. A wake up call indeed. Our life changes instantly. The sooner
we accept this, the sooner the healing begins. No doubt about it. And
ultimately, the healing of our bodies is the cherry on the cake. It’s our

internal lives that we’re called to tend to. What habits do we need to
unlearn? What new habits do us good? What belief systems do we need

                                                             to reconsider?

Acceptance is the cornerstone of anybody’s newly envisioned life. But
accepting a situation is by no means surrender or defeat. On the contrary, it’s

an act of respect for whatever life throws at us. It’s an acknowledgement that
a life-threatening experience, however harsh, can also be perceived as the
thorn of a full rose; a flower with a stem, leaves, colour, scent and yes, a thorn,

a flower that gives us its full beauty in all its being. Just as it is. Not better, not
worse, just different. It is what it is. I smile, knowing that every experience is an

opportunity to learn, to adjust and to look forward; to play and play again
and again; not necessarily in that order.
