VOLUNTEER NEWS:
W c Yy Ha penings @NHC akp
ou might expect to find things like sweat- ers, mittens, umbrellas, cell phones or even car keys making their way into the New Hope Center’s Lost and Found. There’s even
been a few stranger items that have been known to show up over the years, like a men’s dress belt or the water bottle stop- per that resides among the items right now; but who would’ve guessed dentures...
YES, we’re totally serious!“The dentures showed up at Brillion House around Halloween last year,” says Judy Bohrtz, Brillion’s House Manager. “At first we thought it was a practical joke be- cause of the time of year, but since then we got to thinking that maybe somehow they were picked up by one of the cli- ents at the center and ended up here.”
If anyone is missing their dentures or knows who the owner might be, please help us in our challenging task of returning them. ♥
Just say Thank You...
Two magic little words that are good for you too...
It’s what your parents remind you to say when you’re a child and now there’s research to prove that it’s good for your health too!
Robert A. Emmons is a leading researcher in the field of psychology of gratitude, professor at UC-Davis and author of four books on the subject. Together with Michael E. Mc- Cullough they have conducted a number of experimental studies in the field, finding that it really is good for every- one to practice gratitude.
Saying thanks can help you to:
• Boost your immume system and lower blood pressure
• Give you higher levels of positive emotions
• Create more joy, optimism and happiness
• Feel less lonely and isolated
• Act with more generosity and compassion
When you take the time to notice what you appreciate, you can’t be noticing what you don’t like.
