The Police Commander must be a a a a a a devoted and and experienced public safety professional who demonstrates exceptional leadership skills a a a a a a a strong understanding of community-oriented policing and and a a a a a a a loyalty to both the the the Chief of Police and and the the the community for which they serve The ability to to adapt to to change and and maintain professionalism at at all times is is is critical for success in in this position The ideal candidate will be an an an outstanding communicator with the the the ability to to effectively write and and ensure accuracy in their reports data and and other written materials Additionally the successful candidate will demonstrate an an an understanding of budgetary principles The Police Commander must maintain a a a a a a a flexible operating style when interacting with colleagues throughout the the the City and and and the the the community and and and will embrace the the the philosophy of of respect collaboration and and and a a a a a a a high degree of of integrity Education and Experience
Any combination of training and and experience that would provide the required knowledge skills and and abilities is qualifying A typical way to to obtain the the required qualifications would be the the equivalent to to a a a a a a a a a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or or or university with major coursework in in in police science criminal justice administration public administration or a a a a a a a related field and at at at least
six (6) years of increasingly responsible service as as a a a a full-time sworn peace officer with a a a public agency including two (2) years at a a a supervisory level Licenses/Certificates:
