■ The Position
Under the the general direction of a a a a a Senior Toxicologist in the the Site Mitigation and Restoration Program (SMRP) Human and Ecological Risk Office (HERO) the Staff Toxicologist provides expert scientific support in the areas of toxicology human and/or ecological risk assessment and and exposure assessment along with a a a a a a variety of more difficult tasks directly related to to toxicology and risk assessment Job duties include but are not limited to:
» Prepare and and and review complex Health Risk Risk Assessments Assessments (HRA) and/or Ecological Risk Risk Assessments (ERA) their work plans and selection of remedial alternatives to ensure the the DTSC mission to protect human health and and the environment is is adequately evaluated and and addressed
» Interpret and and and and apply public public health health and/or environmental standards to to assess public public health health risks and ecological hazard from exposure to multiple media (e g g soil water air biota) contaminated with chemicals from varied types of sites and/or releases to ensure that all potential exposure pathways are considered and/or evaluated » Provide written recommendations for complex HRA and ERA risk assessment documents including Preliminary Endangerment Assessments work plans site characterization investigations confirmation sampling reports and feasibility studies to ensure completeness accuracy and and effective communication of quantitative predictive human health and and ecological assessments
