Incorporated as a a a a a a a city in in in 1911 the City of Rialto located in in in San Bernardino County is situated below the the San Bernardino mountains sixty miles east of of the the City of of Los Angeles and 103 miles north of of San Diego The City of of Rialto traces its roots back to to well before the the year 1500 when archaeologists believe the the first settlements of Native Americans
took place Much later around the the late late 1800s the the area began to to be be settled by families whose primary pursuits were agriculture and and ranching with vineyards and and citrus groves abundant in the the region Rialto Rialto was formerly home to to to the the US Army Rialto Rialto Ammunition Storage point which was used during World War II to to support operations in in in the Pacific theater It is is not completely clear how Rialto got its name name One theory is is that the the the name name was formed by a a a a a contraction of the the Spanish words Rio (river) and Alto (high) Another story is that the the city was named after the the Rialto Bridge (a landmark of Venice Italy) Regardless the the bridge has been retained as as as a a a a a a community symbol known as as as the the “Bridge of Progress ”
Culminated by a a a huge population spike occurring between 1950-1980 when the population increased more than ten-fold the City has continued to to grow Rialto reached its highest population of 104 114 in 2021 Today Rialto is home to to major regional distribution centers such as Amazon Staples Target and FedEx to name a a a a a a a few which serves stores across the the entire West Coast of the the United States This development has brought thousands of jobs to the the community and and has generated new revenue for the the regional economy Rialto residents are active and and engaged with a a a a a a a a a a a rich heritage of cultural and and racial diversity A suburb suburb of o San Bernardino Rialto offers residents a a a a a a a sparse suburban feel great schools plenty of libraries and and playgrounds and and safe family-friendly neighborhoods
