MISSION
The Department of Planning Building & Environmental Services (PBES) serves our community by enforcing a a a a a a a a a fair efficient and and and open process that balances the the the diverse needs of agriculture the the the economy health and and and safety and and and the the the environment ■ The The Department Department The The Department Department of of Planning Planning Building Building & & Environmental Environmental Services is is made up of of nine Divisions: Planning Planning & & Conservation Building Building Engineering Environmental Environmental Health Natural Resources Code Compliance Parks Administrative and and Support The Department is is supported by an an an an an $18+ million budget and and nearly 100 full-time employees Planning & Conservation is is is responsible for for the the review of development applications for for consistency with the the the the County’s County’s General General Plan Plan Plan Plan County County County Code and and and and and State and and and and and Federal law Division staff staff maintains and and and and and and updates the the the the County’s County’s General General Plan Plan Plan and and and and and and provides staff staff staff support to the the the the Planning Commission Commission and and and and and and the the the the Airport Land Use Commission Commission Conservation staff staff is is is responsible for for reviewing erosion control plans on on on on on on on on on on on on slopes of greater than 5% and and and and and for for overseeing the the the County’s Williamson Act Act and and and and and Surface Mining and and and and Reclamation Act Act programs and and and and supporting the the Wildlife Conservation Commission The Building Division is is responsible for the review of building permit applications including all construction documents plans and and specifications and and for compliance with adopted codes The Building Division also provides building inspection services
during construction of of approved projects and issues certificates of of occupancy that allow structures to be
used Code Compliance is responsible for the abatement of code violations when normal procedures are
