THE POSITION
Under general direction the Assistant Auditor-Controller assists in in in planning organizing and administering the the activities of of the the Auditor-Controller’s Office performs and oversees professional accounting reporting and and auditing services to County local agencies and and schools acts on behalf of the Auditor-Controller when needed and performs related work as as required This is is is an an an assistant department head level of of classification with responsibility to to oversee the day-to day-operations of of the the department and for representing the the Auditor-Controller This single position classification has responsibility for all professional and technical activities within the Auditor-Controller’s office The incumbent serves at the the will and pleasure of the the Auditor-Controller Key responsibilities include:
» Assist the the the Auditor-Controller Auditor-Controller with planning directing supervising and and coordinating the the the functions and operations of the Auditor-Controller’s Office including financial reporting payroll processing accounts accounts receivable and and and accounts accounts payable property tax accounting and and and distribution and and and special funds and grants » Maintain the County’s financial system by reviewing transactions and and ensuring accuracy accuracy of records for for numerous governmental proprietary and fiduciary funds review all journal entries for for accuracy and posting to the county general ledger » Assist with preparation and and and and compilation of of the comprehensive annual financial report report and and and and single audit report including year-end closing procedures and and reconciliation of all funds and and accounts » Oversee and and and assist with the the the State State Controller’s Annual Financial Transactions Report Report the the the preparation of the County Cost Allocation Plan Property Tax Administration Report and and State mandated claims » Review and and and and analyze pending and and and and adopted legislation and and and and other regulations which may impact the the Auditor-Controller’s office assist in in preparing policies procedures and forms consistent with new laws communicating changes to staff and affected departments » Review and and and and and analyze authoritative accounting pronouncements and and and and and standards assist in in in preparing policies procedures and and forms necessary to implement new requirements and and communicate changes to staff and affected departments » Provide administrative direction oversight training coaching and and and support to to all management and and subordinate staff staff within department review the work of staff staff to ensure completeness and and accuracy prepare and and conduct performance evaluations developing improvement plans and and recommending corrective action as necessary » Assist in the the development of o the the annual office budget plan and develop develop cost estimates for new or or revised program elements » Provide a a a a a a a variety of information to the departments districts and and public regarding procedures policies and methods » » Attend relevant training meetings and conferences as required » » Assume administrative responsibility for the the the department in in the the the absence of the the the Auditor-Controller
