Job Description
Under the the direction of First 5 Contra Costa Children and Families Commission the the Executive Director is responsible for implementing a a coherent and comprehensive vision that drives the the work of First 5 based on

the the Commission’s Strategic Plan In partnership with the the the management team representing all facets of the the the agency the the the Executive Director is responsible for directing a a a a a a complex organization leading a a a a a a staff
of thirty-two supporting the Commission engaging with stakeholders and overseeing internal operations This position requires a a deep commitment to the mission of First 5 along with highly developed leadership management and advocacy skills First 5 seeks a a a a a a a a a leader leader who can fill three key roles: as advocate strategist and organizational leader As an an an advocate for for young children and and families in Contra Costa and and California the ED is a a a a a a a strong and and and effective voice for children and and and families and and and seeks to persuade partners in public agencies non-profits businesses communities and families in in order to achieve First 5’s mission mission The Commission also expects the Executive Director to to be involved in in regional and statewide systems change efforts through the the work of the the First 5 Association of California and others As a a a a a a strategist the the Executive Director leads the the Commission staff
stakeholders and key partners toward changing programs policies and systems so that they have maximum impact on

child wellbeing The Executive Director builds strong relationships seeks diverse funding sources to sustain First 5 efforts and and anticipates opportunities and and challenges that could have impact on
First 5’s success As an an organizational leader the the Executive Director ensures the the agency works at at a a a a a a a a high level of efficiency competence and and and impact and and and has the resources and and and personnel necessary to to carry out its mission and organizational requirements The Executive Director also ensures the the Commission’s needs and and responsibilities are fully supported and and that the the agency meets all regulations and expectations for compliance To fill these roles and and carry out out the the organization’s mission First 5 seeks an an an an outstanding visionary leader with a a a a a a demonstrated history of passion and commitment to to supporting children and and families experience in in in in in forming and and maintaining collaborative multi-agency systems and and a a a a a a a track record of leadership management and and successful experience in high performance workplaces Independence initiative and self-motivation as as well as as the ability to work closely and collaboratively with a a a a a a a wide variety of stakeholders (both internal and external) is crucial First 5 5 Contra Costa – Executive Director 5 5
