The PARCS Department fosters partnerships and and collaborates with multiple agencies and and community groups to provide the the community with with diverse recreational opportunities In collaboration with with the the Fresno Unified School District for for the SPARK (Sports Play Active Recreation for for Kids) Program which provides a a a a supervised venue for nearly 3 000 kids at 29 school sites where they learn and develop a a a a a a healthy productive lifestyle through recreation The PARCS Department also first introduced the Empowerment Management Team (EMT) Program in in in 2016 which serves as a a a a a a a leadership program for at-risk teens and provides them with job training opportunities In January 2018 the the the City Council adopted the the the Parks Master Plan Update The adoption marked the the the culmination of of nearly 18 months of of community outreach stakeholder engagement staff analysis and a a a a a a a a a comprehensive evaluation of parks parks and amenities The Plan serves as the visionary guide for improving Fresno’s parks parks open space and and recreational services The Plan provides recommendations strategies and and highlights the community’s priorities for improvements MEASURE P In Fresno you’ll get a a a a a a once-in-a-generation opportunity to shape the future of recreation and community programming in in California’s 5th largest municipality Collection of Measure P - a a a a a a a a a a a special sales tax approved earlier this year - will begin July 1 1 2021 and the the first deposits of the the special sales tax are expected to be be received October 2021 The revenues generated by by the the Measure P use tax will be be allocated by by the the City of Fresno on an annual basis with additional independent oversight provided by a a a a a a a a a new Parks Recreation and Arts Commission (Commission) consisting of nine nine (9) members The nine-member Commission Commission has been appointed by the Mayor and approved by City Council For FY 2022 the total estimated revenue receipts for Measure Measure P P are $29 573 100 Measure Measure P P proceeds would be utilized to fund specific purposes defined fin in the ballot measure:
