Notes On Usage
Index of Titles: Each title incorporates the root that is focused on in the
corresponding story. And the titles are color-coded and grouped into twenty categories.
Stories: Many multi-syllabic words are broken into syllables and separated by dots. The
syllabication reflects pronunciation but does not necessarily hyphenation as see in
dictionaries.
Families: Every spelling of a root word is printed in a different color. The plus sign (+)
indicates an alternate pronunciation.
Derivations: Derivation are not included in this flipbook version, whereas in the original
hardback version they are.
Phonics Charts: Charts 2a, 2b, 3a, 3b and 3c should be used in tandem with one another.
The various colors and numbers reflect the spellings of identical sounds.
Linkage: Numbers in the Index are linked with the numbers in the stories.
