Story 16
Thrown in the County Tank
1st OFFENSE 2nd OFFENSE
In horror people shrank as two men robbed the National Bank.
One took the money while the other guarded the flank.
A witness (whom we thank for being so frank) said, "One was lank and the
other a tank. And phew! they were rank ! I mean to say, they stank !"
Eventually hound dogs found the two, named Frank and Hank,
hiding along a river bank in a cave dingy and dank.
In court Frank said, "It was merely a silly prank. My gun
fired but a blank. Besides, the money is insured by the bank !"
The jury didn't think this was a prank, silly or otherwise, and tossed
the two in the county tank.
Story 17
"Who Can't ?"
"Who can't ?" said the ant. "I grant you that I
shan't say can't. I'll climb any plant. I don't care
if the fo•li•age is scant. I don't care if its stem has a sharp
slant. And I don't care how hard I might pant, or how loud
Farmer Brown might rant his ad•mon•ish•ing chant.”
