Introduction
The centerpiece of our Totally Literate Program
is The Red Well-Read Reader.

The beauty of this book, so to speak, is that it
benefits all students according to their age and
ability. On one hand, fast learners never become
bored for they are forever struggling to grasp
meanings which are in large part slightly over their
heads. Not to worry, they’ll always sense the
rather sophisticated humor. And on the other hand
slow learners never feel overwhelmed because the
level of difficulty decoding (i.e. reading
irrespective of comprehension) remains simple
throughout the entire book. This is accomplished
because only one phoneme, or sound, is typically
introduced per story.
The Red Well-Read Reader, along with its numerous
complementary products, contains virtually every
monosyllabic word in the English language, many
of the thousands of definitions thereof, and the
various spellings of every phoneme.
Indeed, TRWRR is a reader, speller, and
vocabulary builder.
