Inter-house Diya
Decoration Competition
The Cambrian School Saadatganj
conducted an Inter-House competition
from class 6th to 8th on “Diya

Decoration”. The aim of this competition
was to promote an awareness among
the students that we decorate our
homes with lights and diyas. According
to the Hindu tradition the lighting of
a Diya is an important part of prayer
and it signifies purity, goodness, good

luck and power. Diwali the festival of
lights falls on the day of Amavasya or
the new moon day. So the presence
of light means the non-existence of

darkness and evil forces. The festival of

Diwali signifies the victory of light over
darkness, good over evil, knowledge
over ignorance and hope over despair.
The participation was compulsory
for the students. The participants
decorated the diyas beautifully. They
were full of zeal and enthusiasm and
tried their best performance. Their

interest and attention in this activity to
excel seemed to be of par excellence.
