Junior School



            Acting & Performance Academy Course

            Who can attend the Junior A&P Academy Course?
            Students  ranging  from  P2  –  P5  who  are  focused  and  hope  to  carve  out  a  career  in  performing  arts.    This
            advanced  course  covers  Acting,  Singing  and  Dance  at  advanced  level  for  this  age  grouping,  as  well  as  other
            vocational subjects.


            How often do students attend the Junior A&P Academy Course?
            Students on this course attend for 5 hours, one day per week.  There are classes on Saturdays only for this course.


            What productions are students on this course involved in?
            Christmas  Pre-show  and  Summer  Pre-show  tuition  is  included  in  the  Junior  School  Acting  &  Performance
            Academy course.  Students may also be involved in class sharings throughout term time.


            What is taught in classes?
            Junior School A&P subjects are taught at an advanced level.  These include:

            Acting     Acting for theatre, acting for film & television, devising, improvisation work, script work,
                       monologues, LAMDA exam class

            Singing    Ensemble  singing,  vocal  technique,  pop  singing,  musical  theatre,  building  on  singing  repertoire,
                       performance class

            Dance      Jazz, ballet, tap, commercial dance, contemporary, stretching and body conditioning class and
                       performance class

            Exams      Junior Acting & Performance Course students have the option to be presented for LAMDA (London
                       Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) examinations.  LAMDA (London Academy of Music and
                       Dramatic Art) certification can go towards the student’s UCAS points from grade 5 upwards.
                       All end of term exams are optional.


            Do students wear a uniform?
            Yes,  full  UKTheatreSchool  uniform  should  be  worn  to  classes  each  week.    For  all  of  our  advanced  courses,
            students wear a UKTheatreSchool t-shirt (red logo), plain black trousers, leggings or shorts, black socks and black
            jazz shoes.
            What courses are available when students reach P6?
            From P6 onward, there are many course options available so it all depends on the preferences of the particular
            student.  The skills learned on the Junior A&P Academy Course prepare students for the Middle School Acting &
            Performance Course, geared at students from P5-S1.  Students automatically progress to this course, unless they
            have another course in mind that is of interest to them.

            For students with a keen interest in Musical Theatre, students from P5 can also attend our Intermediate Musical
            Theatre Academy Course.  Please ask for information relating to these courses if required.
