UKTS and the Curriculum for Excellence

Education Scotland is the national body in Scotland for supporting quality and improvement in learning and teaching.

Education Scotland created the format for the Curriculum for Excellence. We take this format and where possible,
implement it throughout all of our classes, age groups and abilities - from hobby-based classes at introductory level
all the way through to our advanced level courses. This ensures the training and the thinking behind what we do is
consistent with the format in schools throughout the country.

            From the Education Scotland website:
The Curriculum for Excellence is designed to achieve a transformation in education in Scotland by providing a coherent,
more flexible and enriched curriculum from 3 to 18. The term curriculum is understood to mean - everything that is
planned for children and young people throughout their education and not just what happens in the classroom.

Curriculum for Excellence includes four contexts for learning:
             Curriculum areas and subjects
             Interdisciplinary learning
 Ethos and life of the school
             Opportunities for personal achievement

            Expressive Arts Challenge and enjoyment

The main curriculum areas UKTheatreSchool concentrate on are expressive arts
from introductory to advanced levels along with health and wellbeing.
Education Scotland have outlined the seven broad principles (see coloured Breadth
boxes on right) that should be taken into consideration when planning the
children’s learning and UKTheatreSchool ensures that these are implemented.

We believe it is important for children and young people to have fun and enjoy Progression
their extracurricular activities. However, it is vital that proper structure is in
place to ensure continued learning with an overall focus on the health and
wellbeing of every child and young person. Our teaching staff are committed
to educating and inspiring our students and encouraging them to focus on Depth
working towards their goals. Their learning outcomes are logged and a forward
plan is put in place to help our young students become confident young adults
who can work towards realising their dreams and ambitions.
                                                                                      Personalisation and choice

                                                                                            Coherence
