P. 19
The Scottish Government have announced that we can begin in-person classes from 14 September
2020. The First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, did say, however, that it could be earlier and we have
everything crossed for that!
Perhaps, they are waiting to see how everything goes with
the state schools returning on 11 August but, no matter Be patient! It
won’t be long
what happens, our building will be ready and patiently now.
waiting to receive everyone back, and we are very excited Aw mum, I want
to go back to
about that. UKTS now!
We have been gearing up to open on 23 August, and if the
Government announces that this date becomes an option,
then that is the date we will re-open. If however, it is three
weeks later then so be it - we have waited this long so we
can hold off for another three weeks to guarantee
everyone's safety!
To help with any reduction of time in the building, we will
look to run these extra three weeks over what would
typically be our theatre school holidays (details of holidays
can be seen overleaf on the Important Dates section in this
newsletter). This change will mean that we will not take the
usual holidays over the September weekend or the
October break holiday. Also, where possible, if a student
would like to take on other lessons during our weeks at
UKTS, they can sign up for some drop-in sessions (at no
added cost) from January 2021. These drop-in sessions will
be subject to availability, and they will run from January to March 2021.
Additionally, if necessary, we may introduce some online, blended learning to ensure the education of
our students remains uncompromised. Although we aim to return to in-person classes only, following the
success of our VIP Virtual Learning Platform, we all know this works brilliantly, so we are sure that if this
approach is required, our students and staff will take it in their stride!
It seems like we are very close to getting back into our building and we can't wait to welcome our
students. We have missed you all so much!
