About Yogini
Fifteen-year-old high school student SAMANTHA BIANCHI is a budding
guitarist with a lot of promise. Her faith in God shatters when her father,
RAPHAEL BIANCHI, her hero and guitar mentor, dies after a battle with
cancer. Sam is traumatized by his death and haunted by the events leading
up to it.
A talented young teenager, Samantha copes with the loss of her father by
pursuing yoga and its Hindu tenets, contrary to the wishes of her brother,
FATHER ANTHONY, a Catholic priest. Father Anthony sets out to assert his
will upon Samantha to uphold her Catholic obligations. When she refuses
and dives into her own spiritual path, her blatant disregard for Christianity
drives her brother to challenge Beth, their sister and Sam’s legal guardian,
to give up custody, causing a deep divide between siblings.
As Sam’s grief bears down on her, she begins to believe yoga will
ultimately lead her to peace and takes it on with greater fervency under
the mentoring of her best friend’s mother, Mrs. Khatri. Following a court
decision that leaves Sam powerless, she embarks on a courageous journey
that tests her fortitude as she comes head to head with her grief.
