The uninsured rate varied from a low of 5.7 percent in the 3rd Congressional District to a high of 10.3 percent in the 2nd District. The statewide uninsured rate was 8.4 percent, statistically unchanged from 2022 (8.6 percent).%u2022 There were 40,549 uninsured children in Kansas, a statewide rate of 5.6 percent. The 1st District (6.0 percent) and the 2nd District (7.0 percent) exceeded the statewide rate.%u2022 Three in 10 (31.7 percent) Kansans were covered by public insurance (including Medicare, Medicaid/CHIP, VA health care and other public) in 2023. Public coverage ranged from onequarter (23.7 percent) of the population in the 3rd District to around a third in the other districts (31.2 percent in the 1st District, 37.7 percent in the 2nd District and 34.3 percent in the 4th District).%u2022 Six in 10 (60.0 percent) Kansans had private insurance (employment-based, military/TRICARE, direct-purchase and other private). While private coverage was 70.6 percent in the 3rd District, it ranged from 52.0 to 60.2 percent in the other districts.Visit our website and interactive map to explore the status of health insurance coverage across Kansas congressional districts.Vaping ECHO for Education: Cohort III Evaluation of the Pilot Initiative in KansasIn the third year of Vaping ECHO for Education, a pilot program which addresses vaping among Kansas youth, about onethird (38.5 percent) of school teams implemented a new vaping policy and more than threefourths (84.7 percent) of school teams reported starting development or completing development of community partnerships to address vaping. The majority (86.4 percent) of respondents indicated they would recommend the Vaping ECHO for Education program to others, due to the usefulness of resources and information provided, value of discussions and shared perspectives, program design and student-centered approach.
